If you hadn't yet heard, I am engaged to my best friend in the world, Brittani Alvey. (: Most of you are probably super surprised, and then there are you who knew this was going to happen from the start. But all I can say is that I am SUPER happy and I am really excited for the married life! You are all probably wondering how it happened. So, here is the story.
It was my birthday. The plan was to pick Brittani up from work and head down to Salt Lake. We were going to go to the Utah Jazz basketball game, and then after I was going to take her for a walk to Temple Square and propose in front of the Salt Lake Temple. But, of course, a snowstorm came and trapped us in Logan. At first, I wasn't too happy because I had been planning this for a few weeks. But, once I finally realized that there really wasn't anything I could do, it was time to make a new plan and FAST. I first took her to dinner to Angies, a very popular restaurant in Logan. After dinner, we went to watch the movie Joyful Noise. It was a really good movie! I liked it a lot! Once the movie was over, I blindfolded Brittani, and drove her around until we were in front of the Logan Temple. I walked her up to the front of the temple, took off the blindfold, told her how much I loved her, and got on one knee and proposed. (: It was a chilly night with new snow on the ground, which made it quite a romantic experience. (: After she said yes (which of course she did!), we went to get hot chocolate at Starbucks. We then went to her apartment where I had put balloons, candy kisses, post-it notes, roses, and a letter expressing my love for her in her bedroom. It was the best birthday I have ever had!! (:
Now, the big day is set for May 10, 2012 in the Salt Lake Temple! There will be receptions in Hanksville on the 11th and Orderville on the 12th. We are both really excited and are happy together. I am very excited to marry my best friend (: Now comes all the planning!
On a side note, I also got a job here in Logan at Olive Garden!! (: I am a busser/servers assistant. I started last week. I really like it! I love working in the restaurant environment. And Olive Garden is my favorite restaurant, so it is pretty great to be able to work there (:
